Effective yet
inexpensive products to use these summers to fend off acne
Warm blanket of summers is here to wrap us and we cannot feel more elated. Summertime is the best time to be in, to travel, and to experience. However, heat and humidity of summers can cause us to sweat more, thereby, clogging our facial pores, leading to those irritating and dreadful zits.
Let’s welcome summers in style without compromising on our beauty. For summer season skin-care, follow these easy steps and keep acne at bay and for hair-care in summers, click here.
• Sunscreen
Sunscreen must be worn all year round, more so, in summers when sun rays directly hit our bare skin. To save yourself from harmful UV rays and for a youthful glow, use sunblock with SPF 30 or higher. For a grease-free look use the one that’s oil-free and water-resistant. Lotus, VLCC, Lakme, Lacto Calamine, L’Oréal, and Garnier have some of the best in class and range sunscreens.
• Face Wash
Wash your face with a face wash as it is less harsh than soap. Wash your face only twice a day as over washing can signal your skin’s oil glands to overproduce oil, making it greasier. Over washing and scrubbing of face can also cause irritation. Cetaphil, Himalaya, Neutrogena, Clean n Clear, Dove, Olay, and Garnier house one of the most suitable products for Indian skin.
• Light makeup base
Heavy makeup base in summers must be avoided, especially during the day. Skip the foundation and tinted moisturizer. Instead, you can use Blemish Balm (BB) or Colour Corrector (CC) cream with medium coverage. We get some good options in Lakme, Garnier, Maybelline, Colorbar, Deborah Milano, L’Oréal, and Pond’s. These even out your complexion without causing a total makeup meltdown.
• Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid can help treating pimples and preventing future breakouts. You can use a salicylic face wash. Before bed, you can cleanse your face and apply an acne treatment gel with salicylic acid. Salicylic acid can be found in products by Vichy, Kaya Skin Clinic, L’Oréal, Garnier, Neutrogena, and Clean n Clear. These products must not be over-used and if these don’t treat acne, you should consult a dermatologist.
• Face wipes
No matter what you do, unforgiving Indian summers and pollution make sure you sweat a lot. So, freshen up with cleansing towelettes or face wipes, when on the go. Consider face wipes from brands like Kara, The Body Shop, L’Oréal, Garnier, and Olay. These will rub off make-up as well as grimes.
